Talbot Village Appraisal and Management Plan

Written by

You are invited to comment on a draft appraisal and management plan for the Talbot Village Conservation Area. The draft Talbot Village Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plans identify the important elements that make the area special and outline what needs to be done to preserve its historic and key features.

The plan has been developed with contributions from heritage experts and is being consulted on between 18 January and 29 February.  Once complete the plan will form part of the planning process for any applications submitted in the Talbot Village Conservation Area.

Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Member for Planning & Environment, said; “The Talbot Village Conservation Area is an important and unique part of Bournemouth.  This draft Appraisal and Management Plan covers the Conservation Area’s capacity for change and suggests a proactive approach to preserving and enhancing this part of the town.  Through this consultation we would like to understand what local stakeholders and the wider public think about the issues, constraints and opportunities in the area.  I would encourage interested residents to take this opportunity and comment on the draft plans.”

The Talbot Village Conservation Area lies within the wider Talbot Project area - a five-way partnership between Bournemouth Council, Bournemouth University (BU), Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), Borough of Poole, and Talbot Village Trust (TVT). The project covers land owned by the partners and seeks a joined up, strategic approach to investment in the area, including to improve the Universities’ environment and setting up of a digital village.

Residents are able to view Talbot Village Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan here, or at Winton and Ensbury Park Libraries and the Town Hall Customer Services Centre.
