Work is set to begin in May on the construction of new sustainable travel facilities along Wimborne Road in Poole between Denmark Lane and the New Inn junction. The project will take place in two phases and will see the area benefit from new cycle, walking and bus infrastructure improvements.

It is the first section to be built of the 7km green travel route linking Poole town centre with Merley, Poole and will link key employment, retail and education facilities including Poole High School, Longfleet Primary School and Oakdale Junior School, Canford Heath Junior School, Poole Hospital, Barclays House and Nuffield Industrial Estate.

The council will invest £3.1 million into enhanced street cleaning, additional CCTV, Community Support Officers, and pothole repairs this year as part of its Cleaner, Greener, Safer initiative.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated as Her Majesty marks an unprecedented 70 years on the throne.

Gigabit fibre currently being laid

Collaboration between two major BCP Council projects is underway with 3.1km of ducting for gigabit fibre (part of the council’s Smart Place programme) currently being laid at sites where sustainable travel improvements (part of the council’s Transforming Cities Fund programme) are also in progress.
